25 Years in Practice

I’m also an architect

For more than 25 years, I’ve made a career out of making complex ideas simple.

I was a director of a large national architectural practice in Sydney, managing more than 60 staff and working 60+ hour weeks. I lived in a McMansion with 5 closets, worked hard, played hard, earned well, and could buy pretty much whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it.

Which sounds fabulous, until you realise keeping up with the Joneses is basically another full-time job.

The better house, the better car, the better clothes, the next upgrade, the next big thing. Turns out, you can have almost anything you want.

It just costs money

The Epi-Fanny

No Spare Time

From the outside, I had built a very successful life. From the inside, I was working constantly to maintain it.

More work meant more money. More money meant more stuff. More stuff meant more things to manage.

It was a beautifully efficient system for ensuring I had almost no spare time.

Then I had what we call in our family an epi-fanny.

Future Me was not heading somewhere particularly fabulous, and something had to change.

The Big Lap

5 Closets to 2 Shoeboxes

So we did The Big Lap of Australia in a tiny A’Van caravan.

I went from 5 closets to clothing storage roughly the size of 2 shoeboxes. There was nowhere to hide the excess, so everything had to earn its place.

And strangely, life got better.

Getting dressed was easier. Packing was easier. Cleaning was easier. Making decisions was easier.

I had less stuff, but more time. More freedom. More time outside. More time together. More room to actually live.

That was the transformation.

Less did not have to mean deprivation.

Less could mean freedom

The Change

Time to Reset

When I was packing, I discovered I had 36 pairs of black pants. I was horrified. They seemed to be coming out of the closet like a clown car, never-ending. How could I own 36 pairs of pants and still feel like I had nothing to wear?

I realised I did not need more clothes. I needed a better system, not just for my closet but for my whole life. I needed a simple framework I could use to reset the different areas in my life: a filter to work out what stays and what goes and what actually deserves my time, money, and energy.

That simple idea became the foundation of LUX RESET, a way to create a life of luxury by having less of the things that do not matter and more of the things that do.

The Three-Step Filter

Lux Reset Method

And when it comes to stuff, I use an even simpler test:

L - Do I Love it?
U - Do I Use it?
X - If not, eXit it.

Simple. A little ruthless. Very effective.

The Question

Why am I spending my time managing things I do not even love or use?

That became the philosophy behind LUX RESET.

And no, this is not minimalism. I like beautiful things far too much for that.

I am not suggesting you throw everything out, move into a white box and form an intense emotional relationship with 1 ceramic bowl.

This is about choosing what stays, what goes, what still fits your life, what deserves your money, attention and time, and what you want to take with you into whatever comes next.

The best systems quietly make life easier. They reduce decisions, reduce maintenance and give you time back.

That is also why AI has a place here. Not because AI is shiny and exciting, but because if it can remove a repetitive decision, simplify a task or give me 20 minutes of my day back, excellent.

I will take the 20 minutes.

Time back is the point

Where I Live Now

These days

These days you will find me splitting my time between Yamba on the New South Wales coast and Penguin in Tasmania.

Best of both worlds, beach and bush, real beauty and the kind of community spirit you only find in small towns.

More time means more to put back into that community. Surf life saving. Local sport. I am not the person who says yes to everything. I am the person people come to when they actually need something done.

Because that is what having less to manage actually buys you. Not more time to scroll.

Time to show up for what matters

Your Turn

Maybe you have reached your own line in the sand.

Maybe your career has changed. Maybe your children need you differently. Maybe you have started something new. Maybe your priorities have shifted.

Or maybe you have simply reached the stage of life where you look around and think:

“I do not want to spend the next 10 years maintaining a life I designed for the last 10.”

Fair enough.

You do not need to start over or become a completely different person. You just get to choose what comes with you.

What still fits. What still matters. What deserves your money, energy and time.

That is what LUX RESET is here to help you do.

Reset what no longer works.
Design what comes next.
Curate what deserves to stay.

Then create simple systems that make everyday life require less of you, so you can spend less time managing things and more time actually living.

Because you can always earn more money. You can always buy more stuff.

You cannot buy more time

Lux Reset

Once I understood that, everything changed

If you feel like you need a reset too, start with the LUX LOOKBOOK.

It shows you how to unlock 20 outfits from just 7 pieces already in your closet.

No shopping spree. No starting over. Just a simple way to see more possibility in what you already own.

And once you see what is possible with less, it starts to change the way you think about everything else too.

You might just discover how much easier life can feel when you own less, choose better and make more room for what matters.
